Life's A Drag... Svierge's Debut, Drag Story Hour & Hollywood Gold!
Catching up on eight episodes of 'Drag Race España T3' in seven days was a task! ¡Mis amores, lo siento! Svierge? Yes, the land of 'IKEA' and 'ABBA' served up their debut 'RuPaul' season! Those bigots better leave those storyteller queens alone! Trade those guns for glitter, fools! Hollywood film stars lip-synced? Debbie Reynolds did not! Baby, you don't know the truth! Drag is more!
With 'Drag Race Holland' on some kind of hiatus, another fresh European 'Drag Race' franchise came to nourish our 'RuPaul' reality television loving souls! Sweden came to the rescue as Belgium crowned their debut winner, more debuting 'Ru-Girls' were waiting in the 'Werk Room!' Hosted by Swedish icon, 'Robert Fux' they were joined on the judging panel by 'Kayo' and 'Farao Groth'. I had no idea who any of the main judges were but that's the beauty that every new 'Franchise' brings to my growing 'World Of Wonder Plus' subscription! Nine queens stormed that Swedish Werk Room with their best looks on that debut season, I had never heard Swedish spoken as a dominant language on a Reality TV show before but I was open to listen and soak it all in! The challenges followed the expected 'Drag Race' format with Swedish personalities and activists interwoven into the season, the experimental design challenge saw the queens make 'Tip-tip Couture' from recycled materials that only 'Greta Thunberg' could be proud of! Häftigt!
'Almighty Aphroditey' was eliminated first, her entrance into such a 'Werk Room' surely won't be her last one? No! The unique 'Antonina Nutshell' served her own style, bringing humour and looks didn't save her during that second 'Lip Sync!' Representing Tokyo via Sweden with her 'Kawaii' style, 'Endigo' sashayed away third with their head help up eye! Both the Snatch Game and 'Life As A Golden Girl' challenges saw 'Antonina Nutshell' return to the competition after she won the 'Reading Challenge!' Unfortunately, 'Imma Queen' didn't impress the judges as she was eliminated next. Eurovision winner, 'Loreen' judged the 'Dragodi Festival' but even their 'experimental flex' style didn't save 'Santana Sexmachine' with 6th place ranked. Antonina Nutshell and 'Elektra' both unfortunately didn't make the 'Grand Finale', a grand show we saw from Sweden's debut season! An 'ABBA' 'Lip Sync For Your Life?' Yes, we did witness! 'Admira Thunderpussy' took the crown with 'Vanity Vain' in third place and 'Fontana' as runner up! Ja!
We don't all have to like each other, nor agree with each others ways of life but leave 'Drag' alone! As they proclaimed on the 'Ballrooms' that 'Reading Is Fundamental' a new wave of 'Drag Story Hour' has been teaching the children at many participating spaces about inclusion and showing kids that difference brings us together, that we are beautiful no matter what! I agree with the critics that a child's presence at every kind of 'Drag' show isn't appropriate because 'Drag' is aimed at an adult audience 'After Hours!' For those community events and supporting reading spaces, I have absolutely no issue with a fabulous performer reading an empowering story to a younger audience with their P's and Q's minded. I am a firm believer that if I was able to see such a 'Drag Story Hour' when I was growing up then I would have felt more 'seen'. Children don't harbour hate, they don't fuel bigotry, they just know how to love! Not just in America, the world has a serious problem, these parents should be ashamed! Oh, Sashay Away!
Choose glitter not guns! There's been some seriously unspeakable and unforgivable crimes against children going on in the United States of America as of recent. These crimes aren't a new thing because 'gun laws' in the U.S.A widely differ from the U.K and we see less targeted attacks but never on schools. One after another American schools continue to be under-fire with young lives lost and those survivors forever traumatised. Governments Stateside have been silent on this recurring nightmare, this form of domestic terrorism has been blanketed with a ban on Drag and a condemnation to eradicate 'Trans Rights' of all kinds. Backward States like Utah, Florida and Tennessee all tried their best to put an outright ban of Drag! America needs mental health resources and gun control, America need not ban Drag nor encourage the condemnation of a Drag performer reading a harmless story book to a group of children! The world stays mad at any person who doesn't fit the box that 'society' has assigned us and for that we must fight on!
You already knew that I was there for that opening episode of España's own 'Tercera Temporada! The second 'Cis-Woman' was about to walk into the 'Drag Race' Werk Room, 'UK's 'Victoria Scone' had inspired cis performer 'Clover Bish' to audition for Spain's third season! The rumours were true, Season One's 'The Macarena' 'Ru-turned' to that Spanish third installment with a whole new look and point of view, it was great to see Maca back! Serving more Spanish speaking countries than ever before, 'Visa' hailed from 'Mexico' with 'Maria Edilia' serving 'Venezuela' on the Main Stage! Rolling in from 'Torremolinos' on her skates, 'Kelly Roller' didn't allow her first elmination to hinder her return that landed her in the finale! Both 'Bestiah' and 'Chanel Anorex' brought their own 'monster' styles for the judges to marvel at! 'Vania Vanilla' made me laugh from beginning to end with her wit and humour! 'Cuba' was in the house! Empowering her natural hair, 'Clover Bish' served Afro-Caribbean' Realness! ¡Si soy!
I already recognised 'Hornella Góngora' from her musical collaboration with 'Kika Lorace!' 'La Reina Del Grindr?!' Yes! Hornella brought the house down in tears with her HIV coming out declaration, her message was delivered with strength making no room for silence! Of course, the shade was thrown between the sisters but altogether this third season showcased a whole lot of love! 'Pink Chadora' served her 'Natural Candy' and she deserved to win that 'SloMo' dance challenge! 'Pakita' stormed the competition with her 'Travesti' talent show performance and unstoppable 'New Woman' energy! Showing more than her bare culo, 'Gran Canarias' own 'Drag Chuchi' made her islands proud ¡Ese culo! ¡Dios mío! 'Ana Locking' gave me life with her looks and snapping fingers! Whilst 'Los Javis' both gave their usual contradictory runway critiques. Before the winner was announced the final four performed a remix of 'Supremme's' own 'Fiebre', along with Supremme it was a spectacle! Stealing the show, 'Pitita' became the third ES winner!
One example from the golden days of Hollywood productions, one musical classic will forever embody 'Lip-syncing!' From their hoofer beginnings, both 'Don Lockwood' (Gene Kelly) and 'Cosmo Brown' (Dennis O'Connor) never needed to worry about hitting lines in their scripts because up until a certain point, those pictures were silent with just motion present. Much like the other two, 'Kathy Selden' (Debbie Reynolds) relied on her physical attributes even thought she had the voice of an angel. As those Californian picture companies moved ahead with the times, it was the task of Monumental Pictures to beat Warner Bros to showcase an all singing all dancing talking movie to beat the competition! Alongside 'Lockwood' was his on-screen wife 'Lina Lamont' (Jean Hagen), they both became guinea pigs for this talking picture. 'Lamont's' squawk of an accent really didn't impress the audience as she clutched those pearls in those first few scenes. Something had to give, the three bounded together to combat 'Lamont's' tone! Girl!
The 'Duelling Cavalier' sank like a ship in the night with all of those misgivings, saying 'Good Morning' after that all-night writing session 'Moses Supposes' that 'Selden' would 'Lip-sync' 'Lamont's' vocals because 'Reynolds' could actually hold a tune. It was a real educational to see how the motion picture industry incorporated sound and song into their productions, leaning into a 'Drag Queen's' performance or to save a song-less actress's plight! Of course, 'Lockwood' did a little song and dance in the rain! The new production 'Good Morning' didn't go down well with 'Lamont' but she didn't have a leg to stand on when it came to prowess of 'Selden', neither did she have a tune in her vocal chords! The movie was a roaring success with 'Selden's' songbird-like vocals but a the last moment 'Lamont's' cover had been blown! In the end the 'Lip-sync Assassin' didn't win this duel, 'Selden's' vocal and talent bagged her, her own contract and presumably 'Lamont' flew back to the East Coast? I'm sure she did! 'Singin' In the Rain' is Drag!
