Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner... Chiang Mai, Thailand!

A second edition of 'Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner?' Yes, Chiang Mai served up two delicious servings plus more delights in the middle! From 'mango sticky rice' to 'Thai green curry', I needed a temple to marvel at! Usually this blog title is a one time thing for each trip but Thailand served up more things and such treats were too delicious to miss out! Thai tea was so featured!

The breakfast that I had enjoyed on the train from Bangkok that morning had vanished from my stomach, I wanted something sweet yet fulfilling! Mango sticky rice had to be the one, second breakfast or none, I knew what I wanted to eat! I had walked a lot within a short space of time and the weather was getting hot, I was my own worst enemy because I kept on dismissing places. I just didn't like their menus, several Chiang Mai establishments weren't giving me the fantasy! I knew what I wanted! I settled upon a place, please don't ask me the name of that place because I cannot remember! Ordering from one of the outdoor tables, I didn't need to look at a menu, it was game time! My serving of mango sticky rice was served up with the quickness, of course I ordered an ice cold beverage with that! How many places had I shunned? Before I settled upon my final place, I remember walking past three places and one was closed shut! Enough now, I wanted to eat! Chiang Mai was a whole mood, that second breakfast was delicious! Tea time, C?

It was most definitely tea time, I ordered an ice cold Thai tea and that time it was legit! No more 'Nestea' calamity, I ensured that this 'Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner' had the correct beverage choice featured! My plate was arranged wonderfully, set upon a wooden plate thing, I saw those palm leaves layer that plate. I had two delicious mango halves, they were juicy and sweet! The rice was sweet and warm, it was like I was in a coconut heaven, you already know that's my favourite tropical flavour! I had a pot of coconut milk to smother my mango pieces in, it was a breakfast like no other! I didn't need a long time to enjoy this second breakfast helping because whilst it was delectable, I had things to do and a city centre to explore! Chiang Mai presented itself with another warm Thai smile, being picky wasn't a bad thing because the staff were very friendly and pleasant at that restaurant. Refreshed and ready for round two, I headed back onto those Chiang Mai streets! 'Wat Chiang Man', who?! Chiang Mai had big plans for me! Let's go!

I needed that breakfast moment in Chiang Mai because after my mango surprise, I had my pick with those temples! Chiang Mai kept me moving without any slacking possible, of course I found a 'Wat' or two before I got to my late lunch location. 'Wat Rajamontean' saw me navigating those alley ways with no caution needed, I found a secret entrance to a desperately needed bathroom break! Chiang Mai had me torn between several roads because it was the city of temples with a place of worship on every single corner! Not wishing to wait in line, I left that lunchtime moment for later on in the day because those dinner hunger pangs were hitting hard! I had heard of a temple that inspired the name, 'Chiang Mai', you know that I needed to see that for myself! 'Wat Chiang Man' had many parts, the history stood as a complex plate of delights for me to leave for later on as the afternoon pressed on. 'Phra Wihan', who? I didn't know her! I admired that darling Thai temple structure with much respect, it's about appreciation! Thailand taught me!

'Chedi Chang Lom?' The oldest part of the temple stood with all of its might, I felt that temple energy with no disguise needed! Dating back to 1581 CE, 'Ubosot' had me transfixed because from where I stood I was able to see three of the temple structures with the lawn like a whole mood. I didn't need any 'espresso' because 'Wat Chiang Man' kept me alert and awake, I knew CM's other temples would be calling! They could never! The surrounds were just what I needed because Bangkok had done the most, those kids needed to pipe down! Did I feel the need to walk into any of the structures at 'Wat Chiang Man?' No, I felt that the exterior views were giving enough, I was content with those views. Kids? Those rhaatid damn kids were on a study exchange from a Korean school, straight up they were disrespecting their teachers big time! Those 'old enough to know' kids needed to book up their ideas because they were playing with their teachers time! Thai green curry for dinner? I prefer to say tea but you know, the blog! OK!

Delusion was about to be my personality, hunger had me feeling an early night would be the best thing for me? I wasn't joking! I needed to snap out of it, let me tell you I made myself take a double take because I needed help! I had walked a lot, I had already had a long day but my first night in Chiang Mai was approaching. Going to bed early didn't seem like a plan, I needed to ignore the chimes of that 'Chiang Rai' alarm call! I had a lemonade drink? I needed to snap out of that delusion and get myself a real drink! Strolling around 'Mueang Chiang Mai' revealed my dinner plans. I wanted a serving of Thai green curry and like the previous meal, I wasn't about to be hasty with those dining choices. I found a busy corner with many different eateries but they were doing much too much, I found a glass fronted place and that was the one! Ordering my Thai green curry with the quickness, I needed a rice rich meal to line my stomach! I wasn't ready for confusion, I refuelled for the night ahead of me! Those prawn fritters were amazing! Oh, yes!

Served up super quick, I was in another Thai food dream but in real time motion! I knew the next days hangover would break my soul but in that moment, that Thai green curry gave me the motivation to do wrong! The prawn fritters saw me making a new foodie foundation, I wasn't playing with those Chiang Mai dining choices! Was I mad? No! The lemonade simply hydrated me, I sipped with the knowledge that I would be back 'outside' pretty quickly! I laughed at myself over again because I kidded myself, sure the curry was delectable but you know it wasn't that green! I had read that it wasn't meant to be green like a lime, another lie we had been fed about certain dishes after they've been westernised! With 'Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner' sealed in Chiang Mai, I was ready to turn up that first night but you don't need to know about that just yet, wait for 'Spotlight!' Heading back to my hostel I did, those three servings in Chiang Mai had been absolutely delicious! Normalise it, Thai green curry doesn't have to be that green! Say it!

Delusion? Pure Delusion!
