Serving It Up... Pondok Villa Bliss: Bali, Indonesia!
There was no denying that for me, I had splurged on my Bali accommodation because I wanted my own villa experience! I had no unrealistic expectations nor wanted to spend my whole budget on something outlandish, I wanted something right for me! 'Booking.com' came through with a gem! 'New Pondok Sara Villas' served up my own pool floating breakfast! It was fancy, I loved it!
Waking up before the birds, firstly Makassar tried to try me with a shady taxi ride to the airport! Secondly, the dreadfully slow check-in process at that South Sulawesi airport almost had me missing my Bali flight! Feeling in much better form, the 'Deep Heat' was keeping me going! I needed several libations! Of course! Heading down to Bali was a treat, the flight was only one hour and twenty minutes, paradise was in-sight! Strolling off my flight on island time felt amazing, I wanted to see some liberalism quick! I clocked a full size can of Bintang Lager! I downed that can without any breakfast in my system, with being scarce for the whole trip, I got on that can and saw it off like a champ! That 'free and easy' arrival had kept me going, I had packed a mammoth amount of sightseeing up to that point, I needed to change the pace slightly! I only meant slightly in the smallest sense, a little bit of island life wouldn't hurt me! I wasn't being fooled by those airport taxis, I managed to find a ride-hailing station for my ride. Let's go!
The distance from the airport to Seminyak was short, the roads on the other hands were windy and packed! The traffic was crazy and the roads just didn't seem wide enough to deal with the tourist traffic jam, not to mention those mopeds! Arriving at my accommodation felt like a blessing, I bid my driver a fond farewell because he'd actually made good conversation! It was too early for check-in, but not by a lot, I kept the kept the faith that I wouldn't have to wait long! Checking in was an experience, a good one, the reception was under an elaborate Balinese canopy adorned with flowers and a traditional look. After paying for my reservation, I pre-ordered my in-villa breakfast with all of those continental treats! My breakfast would be brought to my room and set on a tray that would be placed in the pool, a floating meal? Yes! Those Balinese gods were on my side, a villa was made ready for me to settle into! I loved that kind of efficiency! Deadass, I was already looking on those apps! B, I finally felt like I was on holiday!
For three nights, I had my own private one bedroom villa all to myself! I was absolutely gooped as I looked around the facilities. I had my own private plunge pool, it was the perfect size! The open courtyard had a basic kitchenette, table and poolside view with privacy ensured. The bedroom was lush, decorated with soft tones and patterns, I knew that I was going to sleep soundly. If you know you know! The bathroom did the most! I had my own full-size bath with a wide-open shower! I had a whole sink and station to get ready, I would need that before the first night out I had in Bali! I needed a moment to clock those furnishings and feelings, only a brief second before I had things to do! I wasn't going far, I had some in-villa shenanigans to attend to. The first afternoon was all about living easy and doing as I felt, I took my time and even found the time to write a blog post! The apps had been apping! I needed the beach, located within close proximity away from 'Double Six Beach' with amenities nearby, I was spoiled for choice!
The walk to 'Double Six Beach' was rapid, I was quietly located around the corner from a rather busy road but no noise polluted my villa space. Access to a further pool was possible, I didn't feel the need to venture into the wider grounds of the villa premises. I felt comfortable during the second day to relax to the max, well I was much hungover to do anything until the late afternoon. The peace and quiet that my villa gave me was unparalleled to any other accommodation I had stayed at during my trip before my second island residence in Gili Air. I only really needed to order food from the onsite kitchen once after my full day tour. I needed a stiff drink to send me off to sleep, the onsite bar served me up a beer because I had clearly not enjoyed enough! I got speaking to a lovely Aussie lady who was from Perth, she loved Bali and really had great things to say about the villas. I just loved the vibe of the place, it was like a tiny paradise within the hubbub of Seminyak. I would love to stay in a villa like Pondok again! Sure!
Breakfast was served poolside, literally 'the most important meal of the day' had been placed in the pool! Was I tripping? I was severely hungover but absolutely registered that my long awaited Bali pool breakfast was a real thing! I had gone all out, I devoured a portion of both regular toast, French toast, cornflakes with banana, a selection of fresh fruits, orange juice, a glass of milk and a coffee. The breakfast was included within my room rate, I only needed to pay extra for the coffee, that added extra was fine with me. A piece of 'Bali Joe' had made it back to my villa but I was not going to be sharing that poolside breakfast, I didn't feel bad if he felt envious! I am not going to be muggy, I'll leave it there. A gentleman never tells but I'm not a gentleman! The coffee was very much mine but the man was not! I enjoyed that moment, I didn't need anything else to eat for the whole day after that bumper breakfast, better still, I didn't need to face a buffet! Breakfast is always better when on a floating tray in your private pool! The best, B!
On my final night, I needed to dive into my huge bed and sleep for the whole of my living life! Sinking into that lovely bed for the last time was a treat, although the thought of leaving the next morning filled me with sadness! Bali had seen me do the most, I was thankful for those sound sleeps. That villa stay had allowed me to take my foot off the gas, slowing things down slightly, it was magic to have something nicer than a standard hotel room to call my holiday home for a few days. Leaving the villa wasn't the most devastating thing because I had Gili Air for the same amount of time. That corner of Seminyak was loud and brash, but that private villa was a refuge with calm and quiet settings. I can see why Bali has a tonne of these villas on the island! 'New Pondok Sara Villas' was the reset that I needed, every aspect of my stay was amazing, I had no faults and I would absolutely return for a future visit. Try and stop me! I need to choose more comfortable residences whilst I am on my travels because comfort is king! See you, Seminyak!
